Resurfacing of iconic road complete

The scheme by Island Roads to resurface a significant stretch of the Military Road has been completed.

Island Roads has, since the middle of last month, been working to resurface the stretch of the iconic Military Road between Afton Road and Compton Bay Car Park.

At well over four kilometres, the section completed is the longest stretch of main road improved in a single scheme during this year’s resurfacing programme.

The work was carried out overnight in order to reduce inconvenience. Now the resurfacing has been completed, ancillary works at several locations will be done under temporary traffic lights rather than a road closureto reduce inconvenience.

Project manager Derek Benfield thanked road users and businesses for their co-operation during the recent work.

“We hope that people will notice a great improvement in the quality of what is a particularly well known stretch of the Island’s road network,” he said.
