About Us

Who we are

We are Island Roads, the team responsible for maintaining and improving the Isle of Wight’s highway network. As part of the Highways PFI (Private Finance Initiative), we’ve been working since 2013 to deliver one of the most significant infrastructure upgrades the island has ever seen. Our mission is to keep the Island’s roads safe, clean, and efficient for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.

What we do

We’re committed to delivering high-quality services, using modern technology and sustainable practices to ensure the Island’s infrastructure is fit for the future.

Our work covers every aspect of the Island’s highway network. We resurface and rebuild roads, maintain footways, clean streets, cut verges, clear gullies, and manage winter gritting. We also operate the Island’s traffic CCTV network and provide real-time updates to help keep traffic flowing smoothly.

Our Impact

In addition to the massive programme of highways improvements Island Roads is currently undertaking, the company is committed to supporting the local Island community during its time on the Island.

We support the Island community through the Isle of Wight Foundation and the Volunteering Scheme
