Busy stretches of road through Ryde are due to be upgraded this month.

St Johns Road, St John’s Hill and Alexandra Road will all be resurfaced by Island Roads under the Highway PFI between August 4-18.

The work will be done overnight between 19:30 and 06:00 in order to reduce inconvenience to road users and to ensure businesses can remain open.

The work is part of the on-going intensive work by Island Roads to improve the Island highway network.

Keith Gourlay, Island Roads construction manager, said: “This is a busy stretch of road and we hope that by working overnight we will reduce inconvenience to the community. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this work will cause but hope for residents that this will be outweighed by the improvements the work will bring.”

The programme is subject to change and the latest information will be displayed on boards at each location.
