Work is underway to ensure road studs – or ‘cat’s eyes’ as they are more commonly known – are in good working order as the longer nights draw in.

Each year, Island Roads conducts a full, Island-wide, survey of cats eyes to identify those that need replacing.

Following this survey, a programme of replacement work is being planned for the coming weeks. Most of the work will be done at night in order to reduce disruption although there will be short-duration road closures put in place so the necessary work can be completed as swiftly and as safely as possible.

Signed diversions will be in place during these road closures.

An Island Roads spokesperson said: “I am sure residents will understand the need for these short-duration road closures but we would like to thank residents in advance for their co-operation and understanding if their journey is affected.

“We do hope that by working predominantly at night we will be minimising inconvenience for residents.”
