Next phase of Medina Way work to begin

The next phase of work to upgrade Media Way and Medina Bridge at Newport is to begin shortly.

Island Roads will be undertaking the resurfacing of the dual carriageway between Coppins Bridge and a point north of Medina Bridge (the fly-over). In order to reduce disruption, the work will be undertaken overnight – between the hours of 7.30pm and 6am – and is expected to last six nights.

The road will be re-opened outside of work times. A diversion will be in place during work which is expected to start in the week beginning July 18 and may include the night of Saturday July 23 if necessary.

While the resurfacing work is undertaken, the remaining components of the existing bridge joint will be removed ahead of its replacement in August, again in a scheme involving working at night to minimise inconvenience.

The initial phase of the highways and bridge joint replacement scheme was successfully completed by Island Roads last month.
