Island Roads has announced Daisy Chains IW as its chosen charity for 2020.

Island Roads employees will focus this year’s fundraising activities on helping the charity which supports Island children with a disability, long-term health need or life-limiting condition.

Founded in 2012 by a group of parents, it also provides grants for much needed equipment and helps families with the cost of travelling to mainland hospital appointments.

After raising more than £1,900 for Home-Start Isle of Wight last year, Island Roads employees are planning a host of events and activities throughout 2020 to raise vital funds for Daisy Chains IW.

The fundraising starts with an Island Roads Spring Quiz evening in March, kindly hosted by Newport Golf Club. Other activities will include cake sales, sponsored challenges and dress down days.

Elbie Todd  from the Island Roads 2020 fundraising team said: “It was really difficult to select a charity to support in 2020 as there are so many worthy causes to choose from. But Daisy Chains IW struck a chord with Island Roads employees who recognised the special work it carries out to support local children and families during difficult times.

“We look forward to working with this incredible charity throughout 2020 and hope to raise lots of money to help them in their work.”

Mandy Fuller, fundraising manager from Daisy Chains IW said: “We are thrilled that Island Roads has chosen us as their charity for 2020. All the money we raise goes towards helping Island families whose children have disabilities or life limiting conditions, whether that be in the form of a grant or by helping a wish come true by providing an experience for families to help them create special memories.
