Access changes for residents and pedestrians within the Bouldnor stabilisation works site

As our major ground stabilisation work at Bouldnor moves into its final stages, activity is intensifying to ensure the road can be opened to vehicles as soon as practicably possible.

To coincide with this intensified programme of works which sees Island Roads working seven days a week undertaking multiple activities, combined with utility contractor works, additional safety measures have been introduced in the area of the stabilisation works.

A one way system for ‘residents access’ will operate within the works site, this will  require entry to Bouldnor Road from the east (Newport direction) and exit via the west (Thorley Road). This is for residents only and those affected have been notified of this change.

Pedestrian movement is also being restricted within the works area between 6am and midnight.  Pedestrians requiring access through the site on foot will now be transported through the site in an Island Roads supplied minibus to ensure safety of all. This will be a demand responsive service operating from Thorley Road in the west and Port La Salle in the east.  Information signs are at each of these locations explaining how this operates.

Once again, we thank residents for their continued patience and support in enabling these works to be completed safely and successfully.
