Two sections of Fairlee Road, Newport, are to be improved in night-time work carried out by Island Roads next month.
The first site is at the junction with the link road to the dual carriageway and the second site is near Hillside. Work will be carried out between 7.30pm and the early hours of the following morning on June 2, 3 and 4.
During the works, a road closure of Fairlee Link Road and a temporary one-way system on Fairlee Road (north to south) will be in place between Fairlee Service Station and Snooks Hill. Traffic travelling towards East Cowes and Ryde will be diverted via Staplers, while access to local properties will be maintained.
An Island Roads spokesperson said: “By working at night, we are aiming to reduce inconvenience to road users and we hope that this essential work will be delivered with minimal disruption.”
The spokesperson added it was not feasible to undertake this work during the recent Fairlee Road closure for utility works. This was because doing so would have left residents living between both worksites unable to drive to and from their homes because of the two road closures.
