Island Roads has unveiled a completely refreshed website offering residents, businesses and road users a faster, more accessible and more intuitive online experience.
The new-look website, www.islandroads.com, has been redesigned to make it easier than ever for people to find information they need, access services and stay up to date with the latest highways news and information.
Among the key improvements are a streamlined content structure, a new A-Z search tool, quick links to popular topics directly from the homepage, enhanced accessibility features, a dedicated news feed and expanded information about the company and its services. Site visitors can also share content more easily thanks to new page-sharing functionality.
The project was led by Island Roads System Technician James Dark as a career development opportunity and part of his apprenticeship, which he has since successfully completed.
It was also shaped by feedback from users and testing with community groups including Chatty Brew, run by Age UK Isle of Wight and Wight Sense who helped inform improvements to navigation, useability and accessibility.
Steve Ashman, Service Director said: “Our website is often the first point of contact for residents seeking information about roadworks, reporting issues or accessing our services. We wanted to make sure the experience is as straight-forward and user-friendly as possible.
“The new website has been designed around the needs of local residents, making it easier to find information quickly, while also improving accessibility and functionality. We are particularly grateful our apprentice James who has worked tirelessly to improve the site and to the members of Chatty Brew and Wight Sense who took the time to test the site and provide valuable feedback during its development.”
Residents are encouraged to explore the new website at www.islandroads.com and share their feedback as Island Roads continues to develop and enhance its online services.
