The entire length of Smallbrook Lane on the outskirts of Ryde is to be resurfaced by Island Roads shortly.
As part of the current extensive programme of road improvement under the Highways PFI, the one kilometre Smallbrook Lane that runs between Ashey Road Roundabout and Great Preston Road will be resurfaced between June 8 and June 15.
In order to minimise disruption to road users, the work will be undertaken at night and re-opened during the day. While work is in progress, northbound traffic will be diverted via Great Preston Road, St John’s Hill, St John’s Road, Green Street, West Street, Swanmore Road and Ashey Road. The southbound diversion is via Ashey Road, Swanmore Road, West Street, Green Street, St John’s Road, St John’s Hill, Alexandra Road, Appley Road and Marlborough Road.
The resurfacing follows recent preparation work that has been undertaken in the area.
Paul Herbert, Island Roads service director, said: “This is another example of the work we are doing that targets some of the busiest roads on the island.
“While inevitably this will cause some disruption, we are working to keep this to a minimum and I would like to thank road users in advance for their understanding and co-operation in using the diversion route. I would also ask that they adhere to the speed limits on the diversion routes to minimise inconvenience to other Island residents.”
