Home-Start Isle of Wight, a Newport-based organisation that offers family support, has been chosen by Island Roads staff as their charity of the year.
Island Roads employees have already planned a year of fundraising activities to raise money for Home-Start which works to help families with young children deal with the challenges they face.
These activities will include a quiz night, dress-down day, sponsored run on a treadmill, as well as Christmas and Easter events.
Tyler Jarman, who is part of the Island Roads staff charity committee, said: “Staff were keen to support a charity that was focussed on the Island and that undertook work that helped give our young people the best start in life.
“Home-Start relies on funding from the Island in order to carry out their work and we will be doing all we can to raise as much as possible throughout the year.”
Last year, Island Roads staff raised over £2,700 for the 2018 chosen charity – Ability Dogs 4 Young People.
Alison Griffiths, Home-Start senior co-ordinator, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen by the team at Island Roads as their charity of the year. It is wonderful for us to have the value of our work with families recognised in this way.
“We rely on additional funding so money raised by the Island Roads team will be a real boost for us. Thank you so much Island Roads for voting for supporting Home-Start Isle of Wight.”
