A two-kilometre stretch of the main road between Rookley and Godshill is to be upgraded shortly by Island Roads.
The refurbishment of A3020 between its junction with West Street and Kennerley House just north of Bohemia Corner will be carried out at night (from 7.30pm) in order to minimise disruption. The project is expected to take around ten nights and is scheduled to begin around the middle of September.
Further details will be given on information boards placed at the location.
The diversion route will be A3020 Main Road( Rookley) and Blackwater Hollow, to Blackwater junction, A3056 Blackwater Shute, Sandown Road, Arreton Road, Arreton Street, Hale Common and Newport Road, to Apse Heath, Ventnor Road, Canteen Road, to Whiteley Bank Cross Roads, A3020 Shanklin Road, High Street (Godshill) and School Road.
Keith Gourlay Island Roads construction manager said: “This is a substantial section of busy road so we are therefore carrying out the necessary work overnight in order to reduce disruption, not least its proximity to Godshill Primary School. We hope that any inconvenience will be outweighed by the improvements the work will bring to the quality of the road.”
