Island Road staff support Wight Brainy Bunch

Island Roads staff have donated a cheque for £688 to the Wight Brainy Bunch.

The money was raised by Island Roads staff over a year of fundraising activities including sweepstakes, office-based sales and quizzes.

Staff at the highways PFI company annually choose a charity to support throughout the year.

The money was presented to Wight Brainy Bunch Founder Kathryn Grimes by Island Roads fundraising committee members India Dale and Sarah Ledger.

Kathryn said: “The money helps us provide a range of support for those affected by brain tumours, including counselling therapy and help with travel to the mainland for treatment.

“We rely on the support and generosity of Island people and businesses to provide these services, and we are really grateful to Island Roads staff for this support – it is really appreciated.”

In a little over ten years, the Wight Brainy Bunch has raised more than £750,000.

India said: “It was a pleasure to support such an amazing local charity, and we know that the money raised over the year will be put to excellent use.

“Sadly, brain tumours are something that touch many lives, and a significant number of our colleagues have personal connections to someone affected by this condition. Staff members have always been passionate about supporting smaller charities where our contribution can make a meaningful difference. With this in mind, our staff selected this truly deserving charity.”

This year, Island Roads staff have selected Friends of the Animals as their chosen charity.
