Maintenance work for Yarmouth Bridge

Yarmouth Bridge will be closed over two days next week for maintenance work including repairs to the structure’s main deck.

The bridge will be closed to traffic from 9.30am on Tuesday September 12 until 3.30pm (or sooner if possible) on Wednesday September 13. The bridge will remain open to pedestrians throughout the work and will be open at 10am and after 4.30pm for river users at the discretion of Yarmouth Harbour Commission.

The usual road diversion via Wilmingham Lane and The Middle Road will be in place during work.

“Given the location and nature of the bridge, it does require a vigorous inspection and maintenance routine in order to ensure its longevity,” said Luke Ward, project manager in Island Roads’ structures team.

“We have scheduled the work for outside of the peak summer season and while the closure is absolutely necessary, we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and to thank residents for their understanding.”
