A significant section of the main road between Shanklin and Ventnor is due to be upgraded shortly.

Island Roads will resurface a 1.4 kilometre stretch of Cowleaze Hill (A3055) between Luccombe Chine House and Church Road between July 6 and 14.

In order to reduce disruption, the work will be undertaken overnight between 7.30pm and 6.30am and the road re-opened outside of these times.

The diversion route during work will be A3055 Leeson Road, B3327 St Boniface Road, Mitchell Avenue, Ocean View Road, Newport Road, Clarence Road, High Street and St Johns Road, A3020 Godshill Road and Victoria Avenue, A3055 High Street and Church Road.

Keith Gourlay, Island Roads construction manager said: “This is a further example of Island Roads undertaking major work to upgrade a busy section of road but doing so at night in order to reduce inconvenience.

“We hope that any disruption caused despite the overnight nature of the work will be offset by the improvements our work will bring to a road that is heavily used by both residents and visitors.”

Residents are also reminded that Lushington Hill at Wootton will be closed overnight between July 15 and July 28 to allow resurfacing work.
