Shanklin’s busy Regent Street is due to be upgraded this week by Island Roads.
In order to minimise inconvenience the work, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday (9), will be carried out overnight between the hours of 7.30pm and 6am. The work, which will see the stretch between High Street and Carter Road upgraded, is expected to last three nights. The work will be carried out on week nights only.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times but the road will be closed to traffic during resurfacing. The road will be re-opened outside of work periods.
Island Roads has written to residents and businesses in Regent Street to explain more about the scheme.
Island Roads project manager Derek Benfield said: “Like the recent work to improve South Street in Newport, Sandown High Street and Godshill High Street, this is another resurfacing scheme in a very busy retail area.
“Once again the work will be undertaken overnight in order to reduce the impact on local businesses and we hope that any short term inconvenience will be offset by the improvements our work will bring to this busy road.”
