This page contains information on a forthcoming major project to improve large sections of St John’s Road, High Street and Clarence Road in Wroxall.

The work will take place over 14 weeks from November 10. There will however be a break over the Christmas and New Year period.

The work will not only include resurfacing, it will also include deeper-than-usual excavations allowing us the strengthen the foundation of the road. This addresses the issues that have caused the deterioration of the road surface.

These deeper excavations, though meaning the need for future maintenance will be reduced, does make it necessary to have full 24-hour road closures.

Below is a press release we have issued explaining more about the works. As you will see, we have already held meetings with local elected members and Wroxall Parish Council. We will continue to keep the local community informed about the scheme.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and co-operation.

Bus Service

A dedicated shuttle bus service is now operating to help Wroxall residents stay connected during the ongoing road closure for major carriageway reconstruction works.

The shuttle runs between Wroxall and Upper Ventnor and has been introduced through a joint effort by Southern Vectis, the Isle of Wight Council, and Island Roads. It aims to minimise disruption for local people while essential infrastructure improvements take place.
