With adverse weather and potential flooding predicted today and tomorrow, Island Roads have been taking a number of steps to help residents.

In addition to maintaining sandbag stocks at the usual locations (Simeon Street, Ryde, St Mary’s car park, Cowes and Well Road, East Cowes,) we are putting stocks at the following locations:

Carisbrooke High Street car park.

Seaview Duver.

Nicholas Close, and Devonia Gardens Brading.

River Road Car Park, Yarmouth.

Newport Quay.

Moa Place, Freshwater

Our district responders and cleansing teams have also been carrying out additional inspections of vulnerable spots (such as trash screens designed to trap debris in ditch areas), ditch clearance and gulley cleansing. In addition we have been undertaking a programme of extra checks across the Island to ensure resources of equipment such as floodboards are available.

We hope these steps will help to mitigate the effects of the forthcoming weather.

Updates on the conditions across the road network will be issued on Twitter and can also be seen on the home page of our website.

In the event of highway flooding please contact Island Roads on 01983 822440 or email info@islandroads.co.uk
