Lower Adgestone Road has been re-opened following major work by Island Roads to install new drainage.
Last month, high groundwater levels caused one side of the carriageway to slip considerably. As a result, the road was subject to an emergency closure while Island Roads investigated a solution.
Now, following the introduction of a new system that should be far more effective, the road is once again open.
Dave Wallis, Island Roads environmental services manager, said: “Highways across the Island have been affected by the high groundwater levels following a particularly wet winter period.
“At Lower Adgestone Road, the problem was severe and we have had to apply a robust solution to ensure we can keep the road open for the foreseeable future.
“We know that residents were concerned that it was initially necessary to close the road but we are glad to be able to complete the work and re-open it once more.”
