A section of Brading High Street will be closed for a short period on Tuesday night (Jan 26) in order to allow Island Roads to undertake necessary maintenance works.

The work is to reset a defective gully cover.

It will mean the High Street will be closed to traffic between Quay Lane and West Street from 7.30pm until 9pm on the night of January 26.

The diversion route will be the A3055 High Street and Rowborough Lane, B3330 Carpenters Road and Upper Green Road, B3395 Station Road, Embankment Road, Kings Road, Sherbourne Street, High Street (Bembridge), Forelands Road, Steyne Road, Sandown Road and Marshcombe Shute.

Island Roads operations manager Dave Wallis said: “We are very aware this is a busy stretch of the network and so have timed the work to be undertaken out-of-season and during the night-time in order to reduce inconvenience. We would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
