Smallbrook safety scheme nears final phase

Smallbrook Roundabout near Ryde

Work to improve the safety at Smallbrook roundabout near Ryde is nearing completion.

The final phase of the project involves the resurfacing of the carriageway on the approaches to the new, repositioned, roundabout. This resurfacing and the associated line markings will be undertaken at night as a full road closure is required.

Currently, the plan is to carry out this work on the nights of April 11-14 with the new improved junction being open for the Easter holiday period.

To help ensure that target is met, work will, during the resurfacing phase, be undertaken around the clock. Any changes to this programme will be publicised in advance.

The current daytime traffic arrangements will remain in place until the scheme is finished.

The diversion route during the night-time closures is:  For Westbound Traffic – Marlborough Road/Great Preston Road, Alexandra Road, St Johns Hill, St Johns Road, Green Street, West Street, Upton Road.

For Eastbound Traffic – Upton Road, West Street, Lind Street, Union Street, Esplanade Ryde, East Hill Road, Appley Road, Marlborough Road.
