Work is underway to find a solution to the issue of slippery limestone paving slabs in Ryde Town Centre.

The paving stones are made of limestone – which is naturally slippery material particularly when wet. Whilst the paving has been routinely treated to improve skid resistance, a more permanent solution is now being explored.

In the meantime, Island Roads is installing signs on lampposts along the street to help warn the public of the potential risk as well as alerting local businesses in the area.
