Skip and Scaffolding Licences

Island Roads is responsible for approving applications and licences for building works, scaffolding, skips, hoarding and temporary projections that affect vehicles and pedestrians using the highway and footway.

Scaffolding, builders’ skips and temporary hoardings all require a permit if they are to be placed on the highway. This is a requirement of the Highways Act 1980. Island Roads have the right to specify conditions relating to the position of these.
